BELLS BEACH, Victoria/Australien (Freitag, den 22.April 2011) – Der Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach wurde heute Nacht in Runde drei fortgesetzt. In 1 -1.5 Metern Wellenhöhe rollten saubere Wellen in die Bells Bowl.
Der zweite Stop im Kampf um die Weltmeisterschaft wurde heute Nacht an der Küste im Australischen Bundesstaat Victoria fortgesetzt. Der dreißigjährige Joel Parkinson zeigte wieder einmal warum er vielleicht zum dritten mal die Bells Bowl gewinnen wird. Er schlug in seinem Heat den Franzosen Jeremy Flores.
"Bells is a different event," meinte Parkinson. "At other events you measure your performance by what someone did earlier in the day, but at Bells the conditions will be so different in two heats time, it'll look like a totally different wave. It's the kind of spot where you only try to better your own performance and don't worry about anyone else's."
Auch der aktuelle Weltmeister Kelly Slater gewann seinen Heat in Runde drei gegen den Wildcard Gewinner Stu Kennedy.
"I got some small ones just to get a score on the board," sagte Slater. "I thought that there would be some sets later in the heat, but nothing came. It was just one of those heats, I've had a whole lot like that out here, sometimes there are long lulls. I can't do much worse than that and make it through a heat. I like to have my bad heats early and get my good ones later."
Michel Bourez surfte den besten Heat am heutigen Freitag. Bourez siegte in seinem Heat gegen Patrick Gudauskas mit 17.67 Punkten. Der nächste Call ist um 7:30 Uhr Ortszeit. Stay tuned.....
