Tamarack Beach is the heart of surfing in Carlsbad. It doesn't have Carlsbad's best waves, or most scenic beach, but is the center of surf culture in Carlsbad because of it's central location and parking lot on the beach. The mornings are dominated by an older surf crew until about 10:00 when the Carlsbad High School surf P.E. take over the adult swim. It breaks in a few spots, with the longest ride being usually directly in front of the bathrooms.
